Global Fishing League (“GFL,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) operates a global fishing competition platform through mobile applications, websites, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). By accessing or using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

 

This Privacy Policy forms part of the binding agreement between you and GFL, as described in the Terms and Conditions.

This processing applies only to fish imagery and biological characteristics. It does not involve human biometric identifiers.

 

All biometric-style processing occurs on backend systems. User-side biometric functionality may be introduced in the future with appropriate notice and consent mechanisms.

6. Logbooks and Fish Journey System

Logs are private by default and are not visible to other users unless the user explicitly chooses to share them.

 

Log data may be processed in aggregated or de-identified form for analytics, AI training, service improvement, and commercial development.

8. Biometrics

 

8.1 Fish Biometrics

 

GFL uses biometric scanning technology for fish. We take a full fish biometric scan to uniquely identify catches .

 

9. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

 

GFL uses default browser cookies necessary for basic website functionality. GFL may use SDKs and similar technologies in applications for analytics, performance monitoring, and system optimization. 

 

10. User Rights and Choices

 

Rights vary by jurisdiction.

 

10.1 Global Rights

 

All users have the right to:

 

• Access and review your data
• Correct inaccurate information
• Delete certain information
• Manage notification preferences

 

10.2 EU/UK (GDPR)

 

Users have the following rights with respect to their data:

 

• Right to access – the right to request (i) copies of the information we hold about you at any time, or (ii) that we modify, update or delete such information. If we provide you with access to the information we hold about you, we will not charge you for this, unless your request is “manifestly unfounded or excessive.” Where we are legally permitted to do so, we may refuse your request. If we refuse your request, we will tell you the reasons why.
• Right to correct – the right to have your data rectified if it is inaccurate or incomplete.
• Right to erase – the right to request that we delete or remove your data from our systems.
• Right to restrict our use of your data – the right to “block” us from using your data or limit the way in which we can use it.
• Right to data portability – the right to request that we move, copy or transfer your data.
• Right to object – the right to object to our use of your data including where we use it for our legitimate interests.

10.4 Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

 

Certain U.S. state privacy laws, including the California Privacy Rights Act (“CPRA”), give residents the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.

For purposes of California law:

 

• “Sell” means disclosing personal information to a third party for monetary or other valuable consideration.

 

• “Share” means disclosing personal information to a third party for cross-context behavioral advertising.

 

GFL may disclose limited personal information to commercial partners to support sponsorships, advertising, analytics, and product insights.

 

You have the right to direct GFL not to sell or share your personal information. Exercising this right will not result in discriminatory treatment, and will not affect your ability to access the core features of the Services.

GFL will comply with similar local rights where applicable.  GFL complies with applicable data protection laws in other jurisdictions, which may include rights to access, delete, or restrict certain uses of personal information.

11. Children’s Privacy

 

The Services are not directed to children under the age of 13 in the United States or the minimum age required by applicable law in other jurisdiction. GFL does not knowingly collect, use, or process personal information from children.

 

Children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age) are not permitted to create accounts or use the Services.

 

GFL does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If discovered, such information will be deleted promptly.
